The top countries in soccer around the world have there own soccer league in that country. For example, the BPL in England and the Bundesliga League in Germany, if you looks at most countries that are ahead of Canada in the FIFA World Rankings, that they have there own soccer league in their countries. However, Canada does have 5 pro teams in two different league and 8 teams if you count the farm teams of the MLS teams. But England has more than 5 pro leagues and that's more leagues than Canada has pro teams. Most pro players from Canada go to Europe to play as there are little options for them to play in Canada and if they do go overseas to play in Europe, they are going to get paid more money, which is a bonus for them. This is one of the reasons why people don't know any Canadian Men's Soccer players. There are a lot of Canadian players in top leagues around the World but most people don't know who they are unless you really are a die-hard soccer fan. Lastly, there have been talks that a new Pro Canadian Soccer League could be made in the next few years, with some teams partnering with CFL teams.
